Beer Beef Stroganoff

We had amazing steak a few nights ago! I buy it at BJs in the big sections and then my husband cuts them nice and thick, so they are better then anything you can get when you go out. The only problem is we always have lots of leftovers, so the best thing to do is to make beef stroganoff! I love this dish and you can whip it up in 20 minutes. My husband added some extra touches to this recipe! We all (kids included) licked every drop of sauce off our plates when we were done.

Beer Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of thinly sliced left over steak (bite size)
  • 8 tbs. flour (this is added at different increments)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 tbs. butter
  • ½ onion chopped
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 small can beef broth
  • 2 tbs. ketchup
  • 3/4 cup beer (Sam Adams)

1. Mix 2 tbs. flour and salt and pepper together in a bowl and coat the pieces of steak.

2. Melt 2 tbs of butter in a heavy pan, add the steak and cook until it turns brown.

3. Add onion and mushrooms to pan, cook until onions are tender.  Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

4. Remove meat mixture. Place in a bowl.

5. Add 2 more tb.s of butter to pan drippings, 2 tbs. of flour, beef broth and wisk together.

6. Simmer until thick and bubbly, stir for one more minute.

7.  Add 2 more tb.s of flour, sour cream, ketchup and stir.

8. Return meat mixture to the pan and stir into sauce. Add beer. Let mixture simmer for 5-10 minutes until thick and bubbly.  Serve over hot egg noodles or rice.
